Eimeria-associated pathology in breeding gilts
نویسنده
چکیده
Fourteenbreedinggiltswere movedfrom a highhealth-status multiplication facility to a dirt lot. Most exhibited diarrhea after four days and one died after seven days. The gilts, from a source herd with no history of coccidial infection, were diagnosed with Eimeria-induced coccidiosis and necrotic enteritis. Eimeria infestation is not typically pathogenic. High-health-status swine appear to be particularly vulnerable to parasitism normally of limited pathogenicity when moved from high-health-status environments to conventional production systems.

Fecal samples of 60 turkey poults that showed chronic progressive symptoms like unthriftiness, loss ofweight, diarrhea were collected from the most rural areas with high rate of turkey population in north andwest part of country for intestinal protozoan parasites. According to the morphological characteristics, likeshape, presence or absence of micropyle, and/or polar granule, the 5 different t...

The objective of this study was to validate the use of exogenous gonadotropin (PG600) treatment for stimulating estrus in noncyclic gilts and to compare lifetime productivity of gilts recorded as having natural (NAT) versus PG600-induced (PG600) first estrus in a commercial setting. Prepubertal Camborough gilts (n = 4,489) were delivered to a gilt development unit (GDU) with the goal of deliver...

In two herds that used different breeding and housing schemes, altrenogest (15 mg/d) was fed for 14 d to gilts or 10 d to sows in .45 kg of a diet formulated to meet or exceed their nutrient requirements. In Herd 1 (five breeding seasons per year), 63 of 123 gilts and 40 of 70 sows in seven replications were fed in individual crates to ensure proper intake. In Herd 2 (continuous breeding), 244 ...
